Women's Soccer snaps slide with 2-1 win over Nichols

North Adams, MA- The MCLA women's soccer team received goals from Alexi Anderson and Kayla Lingel as they held off visiting Nichols College 2-1 this afternoon in non-conference action at Shewcraft field.  With the win the Trailblazers snap a 10 game slide and improved to 2-10 on the season.  The Bison drop to 2-10-1.

Anderson opened the scoring in the 40th minute when she converted a through ball from Natalie Caney for her first goal of the season.  Even though MCLA held a 13 to 5 shot advantage the score would remain 1-0 into halftime.

Lingel would tack on an insurance goal in the 60th minute with Caney once again getting the assist.  Caney sent a corner kick into the box that Lingel corralled and beat the Bison keeper for her first goal of the season.

MCLA appeared ready to cruise to victory until the Bison responded.  In the 67th minute, Brandy Gallagher converted in front of the Trailblazer net slicing the deficit in half.  Madison Catarius was credited with the assist on the goal.

Nichols would generate a few more chances however MCLA keeper Katy Daly would make it stand giving them the victory.

Daly collected six saves in earning her second win of the season.  The Trailblazers also held a 6 to 3 advantage in corner kicks

Kelly English absorbed the loss for Nichols collecting nine saves.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 4 PM conference match.
