Anderson and Caney tabbed as All MASCAC selections in Women's Soccer

2015 Women's Soccer All MASCAC Teams

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer duo of Alexi Anderson and Natalie Caney have been named to the All MASCAC team as announced by the league offices this afternoon. Anderson was a first team selection as a defensive back, while Caney was a second team selection as a forward.

Alicia Macomber of Worcester State was tabbed as the player of the year for the second straight season and her teammate Tsara Leblanc was named the rookie of the year.  The Lancers swept the major awards as head coach Kevin Cumberbatch was the Coach of the Year.

For MCLA, Anderson was a mainstay for head coach Deb Raber on the backline.  She started 15 games for the Trailblazers and was instrumental in the pair of shutouts that MCLA recorded. The versatile Anderson often moved forward later in the season and recorded one goal.  The senior was known for her toughness as a defender and one who often challenged the attacker.

Caney was honored for the third straight season in a Trailblazer uniform.  She played in all 16 games and recorded a pair of goals and two assists for six points on the season.  The junior has been the key offensive weapon for MCLA over the course of her career.  She tied for the team lead in points this season.

MCLA completed their season yesterday with a 3-1 loss at Bridgewater State in the MASCAC quarterfinal round.
