Holliday's late goal lifts Women's Soccer past MMA 1-0 for first MASCAC win

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team received a late goal in the 78th minute from Kaylyn Holliday to earn a hard fought 1-0 decision over the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers this afternoon in a MASCAC tilt played at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, MCLA improves to 3-7-3 overall and snaps a six match winless drought.  The Trailblazers are now 1-3-1 in the conference.

The Buccaneers fall to 4-7-1 on the season and are 0-5 in the MASCAC.

A scoreless first half saw each side muster six shots apiece, but both keepers kept the zero on the board.  Late in the second half, Holliday would net the game winner in the 78th minute.  The unnassisted goal was the the freshman's third of the season.  MCLA kept MMA at bay over the remainder of the game to preserve the victory.

Trailblazer keeper Megan Richardson earned the shutout stopping the pair of shots she saw on the afternoon.  MMA's Sara Coffey absorbed the loss notching a game best 9 stops for the Buccaneers.

MCLA outshot MMA 11-6 in the second half while the Buccaneers held a 4-2 edge in corners.

The Trailblazers are back at home on Tuesday night when they host Albany College of Pharmacy at Shewcraft Field while MMA will travel to Pine Manor on Wednesday afternoon for a 3pm tilt.
