Women's Soccer drops MASCAC opener at Worcester State 5-1

Worcester, MA- The MCLA women's soccer team surrendered five second half goals as the Worcester State University Lancers went on to defeat the Trailblazers 5-1 in the conference opener for both teams.  MCLA drops to 1-4 overall and is 0-1 in the conference.  Worcester State is now 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the MASCAC.

MCLA tallied first as Hannah Van de Water scored just seven minutes in to the contest for an early 1-0 lead.  From that point forward though, the Lancers controlled play.

In the opening half, they would outshoot MCLA 22-1 but couldn't get a shot past MCLA's Megan Richardson.  The second half was a different story however, as Ali Maldonado potted a hat trick to spart the Lancers.

Maldonado would tally just three minutes into the second half to tie the game at 1-1.  In the 56th minute, she would give the Lancers the lead at 2-1.  She would complete the hat trick just four minutes later and WSU was on their way.

Skylar Alves and Tayla O'Leary added goals to put the game out of reach.

Worcester owned a commanding 45-1 shot advantage over MCLA in the contest.

Richardson made a season high 24 saves for MCLA.

The Trailblazers will open up at Shewcraft field on Thursday as they host Bay Path.
