Women's Soccer collects Gold Award for Ethics and Sportsmanship from United Soccer
2019 United Soccer Ethics and Sportsmanship Honors
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer program has been named a recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Gold Award for Ethics and Sportsmanship the organization announced over the weekend. A total of 143 teams across the country were recognized in 2019 for exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior, and adherence to the laws of the game.
The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is given to United Soccer Coaches members at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow card or red card. Teams honored at the gold (1-10%), silver (11-30%) and bronze (31-50%) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players and coaches divided by the team's total number of games played.
The Trailblazers have been selected by United Soccer for the 17th time under long time head coach Deb Raber. Last season, MCLA earned the "Silver" award.
MCLA was the only program for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) honored in 2019.
