Trailblazer tennis blanked by Worcester State 9-0

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers entertained visiting Worcester State this afternoon in women's tennis.  The Lancers used strong play throughout the lineup to prevail over MCLA 9-0 to snag their first win of the season.  The loss evened MCLA's mark at 1-1.

The match began with doubles play and Worcester quickly took advantage.  Danielle Candelieri teamed with Natalie Paul to earn an 8-4 win in the top slot.  The match of the day took place at number two doubles.  Worcester's Shelby Jankins and Megan Shepard squeaked past the duo of Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianaki 9-8.  The duo won the tiebreaker 7-5 to earn the point.

Paige Moriarty and Rachel Green cruised in the third doubles match winning 8-0.

In singles play, the Lancers didn't drop a set.  Jankins, Candelieri, Paul, and Shepard each earned another point, while Fania Volf and Cassandra Goncalves broke into the scoring column with victories in the fourth and sixth slots.

MCLA is back in action on Sunday afternoon at 2pm when they host Bay Path.
