Tennis improves to 4-1 in NAC with 8-0 win over Johnson State

Pittsfield, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team improved to 4-1 in conference play setting up a chance at a regular season title tomorrow with an 8-0 win over Johnson State this afternoon at Berkshire West in Pittsfield.  With the win, the Trailblazers are 7-5 overall while Johnson drops to 2-10.

MCLA (4-1 NAC) will travel to play Colby Sawyer (5-0 NAC) tomorrow.  The winner will be the top seed heading into next week's conference tournament.

The Traillblazers wasted little time in jumping out on Johnson.  They swept through the doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead.  Rebecca Waterhouse and Anna Despart were challenged, however they ultimately prevailed 9-7 in the third doubles match to secure a point. 

The singles matches all were straight set victories for MCLA.  The final match wasn't played as the end result was already determined.

Sarah Mikutowicz, Sarah Murphy, Mariza Sfakianaki, Emily Deaso, and Waterhouse all earned a pair of points for MCLA.
