Women's Tennis drops heartbreaker at St. Joseph (CT) 5-4

Hartford, CT- The MCLA women's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 decision to the University of St. Joseph (CT) this afternoon.  With the loss, the Trailblazers are now 1-1 on the young season.

MCLA found themselves down 2-1 after doubles play as Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianaki claimed the lone point via an 8-7 (7-5) victory.  That would lead into an exciting singles matchup.

Deaso was defeated in the top slot, however Sfakianaki claimed her second point of the match in the second slot.  

MCLA and USJ would split the third and fourth matches with Sam Gawron earning the point for the Trailblazers.  USJ would secure the win when Ashley Savino would defeat Shelby Gauthier for their fifth point.

Brianna Higgins claimed the final point for MCLA in the sixth singles slot.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Castleton in the conference opener at the Zavattaro Complex.
