Volleyball outlasts Morrisville State 3-2 in tournament opener

Morrisville, NY- The MCLA Volleyball team won the final two sets against tournament host Morrisville State this morning to earn a hard fought 3-2 victory.  The Trailblazers improve to 1-1 on the season while Morrisville is now 0-1.

The Trailblazers came out strong in taking the first set 25-5.  The hosts would then take charge with a 25-21 win in the second set before rolling to a 25-15 third set.  Facing the deficit, MCLA won the pivotal fourth set 25-20 before rattling off the final three points in the fifth and deciding set to close out the match 15-10.

Margaret Allen paced MCLA with 12 kills off of 21 attacks.  Allison Clark added 10 kills and a team best 18 digs.  Angelica Perfido was stout defensively with 13 digs while Chanielle Enomoto chipped in with 11.  Courtney Parent tallied 31 assists on the afternoon.  MCLA overcame 32 attack errors and 12 service errors in the victory.

Morrisville was led by Kim Dunkleman's 10 kills on 28 attacks.  She added 19 assists, while Helena Hanes collected 15 helpers.  Dunkleman also had 10 digs, while Sarah Linn had a team best 13.

MCLA is back in action later this afternoon facing Keystone in another tournament game.
