Volleyball sweeps Castleton and Green Mountain by identical 3-0 scores

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton Spartans couldn't handle a powerful MCLA offense as they dropped a three-set decision on Saturday afternoon in Castleton.

Castleton jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but the Trailblazers eventually took control on the way to a 25-14 win. The Trailblazers continued their strong play in the second set, earning an 25-11 victory. They took the final set by a 25-16 margin to secure the win.

Allison Clark led the MCLA offense with 12 kills on 19 attempts for a .632 attack percentage. Beatrice Lechler dished off a team-high 15 assists with seven digs and three kills while Courtney Parent had ten assists. Margaret Allen was second on the team with eight kills and hit .357.

Brittany Brayman hit a team-best .278 with seven kills and five digs while Michaela Babineau chipped in with five assists four digs and one ace. Alex Madsen added four assists, four digs and one ace while Amanda Chambers finished with a team-high six digs.

MCLA vs. Green Mountain

MCLA put forth an impressive effort in a sweep of Green Mountain, taking down the Eagles 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Castleton.

The Trailblazers gave up just 13 total points in the match, winning the three sets 25-4, 25-4 and 25-5. They totaled 24 aces in the match while recording 40 digs.

Allison Clark had three kills in one set while Angelica Perfido contributed nine digs and eight service aces. Courtney Parent added four assists, five aces, two kills and two digs. Chanielle Enomoto led the defensive effort with 13 digs.
