Trailblazers knock off Owls in MASCAC opener 3-0 for fourth straight win

Coaches and Players react to win over Owls

WESTFIELD, Mass. – MCLA got 12 kills from junior outside hitter Allison Clark (San Jose, CA), and rallied from a 24-18 deficit in the third game en route to a 29-27, 25-20, 28-26 win over Westfield State in MASCAC women's volleyball on Tuesday night.  

MCLA improves to 6-3, 1-0 in the MASCAC and earned their first win over the Owls in over 15 years.  The win also marked MCLA's fourth straight victory.

Clark had kills on the final two points of the first game to lift the Blazers to a 29-27 win.

The Trailblazers got strong serves from Beatrice Lechler (Holy Trinity/Point Lookout, N.Y.) to key the late rally and seal the match.

Courtney Parent (Frontier/South Deerfield, MA) set 15 assists and Lechler had 14 assists for the Blazers.   Libero Chanielle Enomoto (Maui/Wailuku, HI) had 13 digs.

Westfield was led by senior Kendyl Haney's (Ashland/Ashland, MA)  10 kills, and got nine kills from Shannon Shea (Chelmsford/Chelmsford, MA) in the loss.  The Owls fall 2-6, 0-1 in the MASCAC.  Courtney Ryan (Quincy/Quincy, MA)  dished up 24 assists. Lizzie Taylor (Medfield/Medfield, MA) had 16 digs and Tiara Vaughn (Falmouth/Teaticket, MA) 12 for the Owls.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they host a tri match beginning at 11am.
