MCLA Sweeps past Becker and Green Mountain for eighth straight win

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Volleyball program won their eighth straight match after sweeping past Becker and Green Mountain by identical 3-0 scores this afternoon in the Amsler CC Gym.  With the victories, the Trailblazers are now 9-3 overall.

The Trailblazers played Becker in the opener and won via scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-14 to earn their first win of the day.  Allison Clark continued her torrid play collecting a match best 14 kills off of 28 attacks in the opener.  Margaret Allen was also stout notching 7 kills and a team best 8 service aces in the win.

Courtney Parent and Beatrice Lechler were responsible for setting up Clark and Allen collecting 12 and 11 assists respectively in the win.

For Becker, Samantha Caouette ended with a team best 6 kills.

In the nightcap against Green Mountain, MCLA won the first two sets comfortably before having to sweat out the third.  The Trailblazers took the opening set 25-7 and the second 25-13.  Green Mountain would however lead for much of game three, twice having service to earn the win, but MCLA kept fighting.

The home team would eventually pull out a 30-28 win in game three to complete the sweep.  MCLA eventually pulled out the win on an attack error from the Eagles.

Allen collected her 10 kills on just 18 attacks.  Ten other Trailblazers recorded kills in the contest while Lechler added a team best 12 assists.  Brittney Pihl finished with 12 digs in the win.

For Green Mountain, Torie Cowell ended the day with 7 kills and Megan Roy added 11 assists.

MCLA will next play on Wednesday when they host Norwich at 7pm.
