Volleyball collects 17th win with 3-1 victory over Smith

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team got 18 kills and 15 digs from Allison Clark as she led the Trailblazers past the visiting Smith College Pioneers 3-1 this evening from the Amsler Campus Center.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve their record to 17-7 while Smith falls to 7-8 overall.

MCLA breezed through the first two sets 25-18 and 25-15 respectively before the Pioneers sliced into the lead with a 25-18 third set win.  The Trailblazers regrouped in set four and put the match away with a 25-15 win.

Clark was outstanding all night long as she collected her 18 kills on 37 total attacks.  She added three blocks on the night.  Samantha Anderson had a solid night notching 9 kills.  Margaret Allen chipped in with 8 kills.  Courtney Parent had a great night setting up the offense with a season high 36 assists and notcing 6 aces.  Brittney Pihl was stout defensively with 28 digs.

MCLA overcame 12 service errors and 23 attack errors in the win.

For Smith, they were paced by Macarena Rojas and Elizabeth Peay with 8 kills apiece.  Mei-Li Smith had 21 assists in the setback.  Julie Voorhes led the defense with 29 digs.

MCLA is back at home on Saturday when they host SUNY Delhi at 9am and conference foe Salem State at 11am looking to stay unblemished in the MASCAC.
