Clark leads trio of Volleyball players on All MASCAC team

2015 Volleyball All Conference Release

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team has had a historic season to date and that was evident when the MASCAC announced the all conference team this afternoon.  The Trailblazers were well represented as Allison Clark was selected to the first team, while teammates Rachel Mills and Angelica Perfido were second team selections.

Head Coach Amanda Beckwith was selected by her peers as the conference's coach of the year, while Framingham State's Alycia Rackliffe was tabbed as the player of the year.  Westfield State's Lizzie Taylor is the conference's rookie of the year.

The talented trio of Trailblazers have led MCLA to its best season on record.  MCLA stands at 22-9 and won a share of the regular season conference title.  The wins are a school record and the Trailblazers will host the conference championships this Saturday.

The surge has to begin with Clark.  The talented junior transfer from San Jose, CA has led the MCLA offense all season.  She is leading the team in kills and is second in the conference just behind Rackliffe.  Her 402 kills are a school record and she's hit .351 on the season.  Clark isn't one dimensional as she has notched 302 digs this season as well.

Mills saved her best for late in the season frequently complementing Mills on the attack.  She finished third on the team with 138 kills in 25 matches.  She collected 93 digs and 35 aces as well.  The honor is the junior's first in a Trailblazer uniform.

Perfido is the lone senior of the trio.  She added 128 kills and was second on the team with 329 digs.  She had her top performance in a win over Framingham that eventually lifted MCLA into the conference's top slot and a share of the league title.

The trio will be on display this weekend when MCLA hosts the semifinal and final rounds of the MASCAC Championships.  Game times on Saturday are at 12 and 2pm.  The winners will then square off for the MASCAC championship and automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
