Volleyball splits on day two of Morrisville tournament, Clark named All Tournament team

Morrisville, NY- The MCLA Volleyball team had a long day on Sunday.  The Trailblazers were taken to five sets in both matches on the final day of the Morrisville State tournament as they defeated SUNY Maritime 3-2 in the opener before falling to Hartwick in the nightcap 3-2.  With the results, the Trailblazers are now 1-4 to start the season.

MCLA senior Allison Clark was named to the All Tournament team for her efforts over the weekend in leading the Trailblazers.

In the opener, MCLA prevailed by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 25-12, and 15-11 to secure their first win of 2016.  Clark was solid in the opener notching a team best 12 kills and adding 9 digs in the victory.  Sam Anderson chipped in with 8 kills while Beatrice Lechler had 17 assists and 15 digs.  Chanielle Enomoto had a game high 21 digs for MCLA.

In the nightcap, Hartwick edged the Trailblazers by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, and 15-11.

Three Trailblazers reached double figures in kills led once again by Clark's 11.  She would also register a game high 23 digs for MCLA.

Maggie Allen and Rebecca Godbout added 10 each in the setback.  Lechler had 24 assists and 8 digs while Taylor Wiese added 18 assists.  Enomoto ended her night with 16 digs.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Mount Holyoke.
