Volleyball comeback bid stalls late as they fall to Keene 3-2
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team attempted a late comeback but it wasn't meant to be as the Keene State Owls went on to take the match 3-2 this evening in non-conference action at Amsler Campus Center Gym. With the win, the Owls improved to 11-7 while the Trailblazer fall to 9-11.
The first set was back and forth and stayed close until MCLA made a late run and defeated the Owls 25-20. Keene State would go on to take the next two sets by scores of 25-6 and 25-21. MCLA would come back and win the fourth set 25-21, but Keene State would hold strong and take the last set 15-7 to secure the win.
The Owls were paced by setter Katie Cunningham's game high 43 assists. She fed Rachel Lamica (15 kills) and Courtney Collins (15 kills) to lead the offense. Cunningham added 12 digs while Riley Bunker had a team high 18 digs. Leslie Hearns also chipped in with 12 digs respectively.
Senior outside hitter Allison Clark provide yet another strong night for the Trailblazers. Clark notched 18 kills and 12 digs to complete the double-double. Beatrice Lechler added 23 assists while Tessa Sestito added 15. Rebecca Godbout also had a double double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sam Anderson also had 7 digs for MCLA.
The Trailblazers will continue their home stand this weekend when they host a tri-match this weekend starting at 12pm in the Amsler Campus Center Gym. MCLA will face Johnson State at Noon and Wells College at 4pm.
