Volleyball earns third seed in MASCAC Championships, will host #6 Salem State on Wednesday

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team has earned the third seed in this week's MASCAC Championships and will host sixth seeded Salem State on Wednesday night at 7pm in one quarterfinal matchup.  The winner will advance to the semifinal round hosted by Framingham State and will play second seeded Westfield State.

In the other quarterfinal matchup, fourth seeded Bridgewater State will host fifth seeded Worcester State on Wednesday with the winner getting top seeded Framingham State on Saturday.

The Trailblazers defeated the Vikings earlier this season 3-0 on the road.  MCLA went 4-2 in the conference and is 15-13 overall.  They continue to be led by senior Allison Clark.  Clark closed out the regular season action on top in the MASCAC with a .289 hitting percentage, second in kills per set with 3.11 and third in total kills with 295. She also had the eighth most digs (295) and digs per set (3.11).  

MCLA has had good production lately from fellow senior Sam Anderson and junior Maggie Allen. The duo combined for 20 kills in this weekend's win over Bridgewater State.  Beatrice Lechler leads the team in assists, however she's been helped of late by setter's Taylor Wiese and Tessa Sestito.

The Trailblazers are looking to get back to the conference finals after last season's appearance.  In last years tournament, MCLA fell to Framingham State 3-0 as the Rams captured the NCAA tournament bid.

The winner of Bridgewater State/Worcester State with play top seed Framingham State Saturday, November 5 at 11 am with the winner of MCLA/Salem State will face second seed Westfield State at 1 pm on Saturday. The two semifinal winners will then meet 30 minutes following the second semifinal to determine the MASCAC tournament champion.
