Volleyball’s Conturso Claims First Defensive Player of the Week Honor

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.- Senior Julia Conturso (Farmington, CT / Farmington) has been named as the first ever Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Joining Conturso as this week's other MASCAC award recipients are Salem State senior middle hitter Abigail O'Connor (Guilford, NH) who was named Offensive Player of the Week and Framingham State freshman outside hitter Natalie Reynolds (Beverly, MA) who was chosen as Rookie of the Week.

Conturso averaged 4.25 digs per set (51 total) and added 14 assists to lead the Trailblazers to a 2-1 opening weekend. The defensive specialist collected 13 digs in a five-set win over SUNY Cobleskill, 15 digs in a 3-0 setback to Keuka College and 23 digs in a 3-1 win over SUNY Canton.

Conturso and the Trailblazers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Mount Holyoke for a 7pm match with the Lyons.
