Volleyball Falls in Four at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.- The Mount Holyoke Volleyball team received a game-high 17 kills from Madeline Barton as the Lyons took down visiting MCLA in a 3-1 nonconference decision tonight in the Howard Gymnasium. With the win Mount Holyoke improves to 2-1 while the Trailblazers fall to 2-2.

After the Lyons took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-19, MCLA found itslef on the brink of being swept following an ace by Lucie Berclaz which made it 21-18 in the third. The Trailblazers battled back however ending the set on a 7-2 run edging the hosts 25-23 to make it 2-1.

Mount Holyoke reasserted itself dominating the fourth with a 20-5 run, ultimately closing out the set 25-9 to take the match, 3-1.

Barton had 7 digs to go along with her seventeen kills while teammates Katie Frank and Elle Rimando finished with nine and eight kills, respectively. Amelia Ringer led all players with 15 digs.

Anais Badio's 10 kills and Elizabeth Brown's 14 digs would lead the Trailblazers while Chloie Garber finished with 9 kills to go along with fourteen digs.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday with Mount Holyoke traveling to Elms College for a tri-match with the Blazers and Framingham State while MCLA will host Norwich University at noon in the Trailblazers season home opener.
