Paxton, Mass.—The Trailblazers rolled past the Anna Maria College AMCATS in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-17.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Trailblazers boat raced the AMCATS in the first set, opening with a 7-2 run and closing the set with a 10-3 run.
  • In the second set, the Trailblazers again started the set with a successful 7-2 run that was highlighted by a pair of services aces by Chloie Garber. The AMCATS rallied to close the gap at 18 all. Following a kill from Elizabeth Brown, Jayna Schmohl took the serve and closed the set with six straight service points, including three service aces.
  • They say twice is a coincidence and three times is a pattern; in the third set, the Trailblazers again ran out to an early lead but looked to change things up a bit, so this time, it was an 8-3 run. Continuing the pattern, the AMCATS again evened the score at 12 and traded points with the Trailblazers until the score reached 16-16. The set was finished on a 9-1 run on service runs from Shannon O'Brien and Ezmeralda Albright.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Audrey Melson recorded a team-high nine kills on 18 attacks and a .389 hitting percentage.
  • Garber was the team's high scorer with 11 points on the strength of eight kills and three service aces. She also added on nine digs, a total only exceeded by teammates Brown (game-high 12), Ellie Walter-Goodspeed (10), and the AMCATS' Serena Dennis.
  • Jana Hunt led the AMCATS with 14 kills and a block to score a game-high 15 points for the hosts.

UP NEXT:

MCLA will be back in action on Saturday when they play host to Massachusetts Maritime for a matchup with the Buccaneers at the Amsler Campus Center Gym. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
