WEST HARTFORD, Conn.—The MCLA Volleyball team took a pair of non-conference games from Saint Joseph's College and the University of St. Joseph this afternoon.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • During the second game with USJ, junior Ellie Walter-Goodspeed cracked the 1000 career dig milestone, becoming the first MCLA player to reach the milestone in only three seasons.
  • Winning both games extended the team's winning streak into double digits at 10; it is the second-longest win streak in program history, trailing only a 13-game streak in 2015 that went from the second game on September 6th versus Pitt-Greenburg to the first game on October 2nd against Elmira.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game #1)

  • Anais Badio had a game-high 14 kills and added in four aces to account for a game-high 18 points.
  • Audrey Melson contributed ten kills to join Badio in the double-digit point club.
  • Shannon O'Brien recorded 24 of the Trailblazers' 40 assists.
  • Beth Harris added a double-double with 14 assists and ten digs.
  • Chloie Garber continued her steady level of play, putting up seven kills, 17 digs, and a pair of blocks.
  • The Monks' Kailyn Chamberlin had 35 assists, while both Nadia Sixto and Maggie Sylvester recorded ten kills each. Sixto also had a game-high five assisted blocks.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game #2)

  • Elizabeth Brown had a game-high nine kills, while Kaylee Gray contributed a career-high seven.
  • Harris and O'Brien both broke the double-digit barrier in assists for the second game. Harris added a career-high five aces to go with two kills.

UP NEXT:

MCLA will be back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Bay Path College for a matchup with the Wildcats in the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
