Volleyball Makes it 11-Straight with Nonconference Sweep Over Bay Path

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The MCLA Volleyball team remained perfect at home this season and made it 11-straight wins sweeping the visiting Bay Path University Wildcats 25-9, 25-16, 25-21 tonight at the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Wednesday, November 1, 2023
  • Score: Bay Path 0, MCLA 3
  • Records: Bay Path Wildcats 11-11 | MCLA Trailblazers 19-3 (MASCAC 5-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a dominant 25-9 first set performance by MCLA, Bay Path produced 4-0 and 8-4 leads in the second but were unable to separate any further from the hosts. A Chloie Garber ace gave the Trailblazers their first lead at 9-8 and MCLA ultimately took the set 25-16.
  • The final set proved to be the most competitive and entertaining with the Wildcats leading until MCLA drew even at 15-15. The teams exchanged one-point leads until an Anias Badio kill made it 20-18 forcing a Bay Path timeout. The Wildcats continued to fight but the firepower of Garber and Badio proved to be too much as the Trailblazers closed out the set 25-21 for their 10th sweep of the season.
  • Senior Ellie Walter-Goodspeed was honored before the match for reaching the 1,000-career dig mark this past weekend.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Garber finished with a game-high 12 kills (.526 hitting percentage) and team-high eight digs. Badio chipped in 9 kills (.471 hitting percentage) and six digs. Beth Harris had a game and career-high 26 assists.
  • With tonight's victory, the Trailblazers extended their winning streak to 11 games and tied the 2019 team for the second most wins in a season in the program's history, trailing only the 2015 team which finished 24-11.
  • With the win MCLA wrapped up a perfect 9-0 regular season at home.
