Bio

Deb Raber, Head Women’s Soccer Coach at MCLA, has led the Trailblazers to victory on and off the field. Since coming to MCLA in 2000, the women’s soccer program has been awarded 2 NSCAA All-New England Region selections, 1 NSCAA All-Region Scholar recipient, 42 All-MASCAC selections, 1 MASCAC Player of the Year selection, 2 MASCAC Rookie of the Year selections, 12 NSCAA Awards for Ethics, 4 NSCAA Academic Team Awards, and won the MASCAC regular season championship during the 2010 season. Prior to coaching at MCLA, she coached softball at Springfield College in Springfield Massachusetts; and both softball and soccer at Castleton State University in Castleton, Vermont.

Coach Raber’s career is shaped by her degrees in Education and Psychology. Raber’s undergraduate Education degree at Green Mountain College and Master’s of Education with a focus in Counseling and Psychological Services are the groundwork for her supportive and inspiring coaching style. She also teaches a course to share her refined knowledge of leadership each fall semester. Team Facilitation (BADM 366) is a course designed to help develop an understanding of the processes and techniques of team-building and the interpersonal skills needed to become an effective leader.

Coach Raber‘s influence within the soccer community is far-reaching and her reputation is highly respected by leaders in the field. Named three times as MASCAC Coach of the Year, Raber also leads and instructs for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). As a member of both the National Goalkeeper Staff and Field Player Staff, she instructs all levels of goalkeeping and level 1 through the Advanced National diplomas on the field player side. In 2014, 2015, and 2016 she has presented at the Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic in Uncasville, Connecticut alongside Tony DiCicco. Raber has been very active with the NSCAA serving as Northeast Chair for the Academic All-American Committee, Ethics Committee, Initiatives Committee, and Board of Governors.

Presently Deb Raber serves as Fitness Center Director and the Strength and Conditioning Coach for all athletic teams at MCLA. Her own personal interest in fitness is coupled with certifications from National Academy of Sports Medicine, Certified Functional Strength Coach, American Council on Exercise, Functional Movement Systems, Titleist Performance Institute, and USA Weightlifting. Coach Raber prepares athletes for their challenging seasons but also provides students with life-long tools of wellness.
