As with previous years, we are offering Pickleball in 2025 led by this year’s clinician, Leia Miller:

Leia Miller

As of December 2021, Leia embarked on her journey with Bousquet Sport, not realizing it would spark an exciting adventure into the world of Pickleball. A lifelong athlete, Leia discovered a newfound passion for Pickleball, which quickly became her favorite sport. With her love for the game and dedication to its growth, Leia decided to take an active role in cultivating a vibrant and welcoming Pickleball community at Bousquet Sport.

As the Pickleball Manager, Leia worked tirelessly behind the scenes, creating programs that welcomed players of all levels and brought people together for fun, competition, and camaraderie. Through her efforts, the Pickleball community at Bousquet Sport has blossomed into a growing network of players who come together not only for the game but also to build friendships and connections that extend beyond the court.

Leia’s commitment to both personal and professional growth led her to refine her skills, earning her Level One certification from the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) in April 2023. Her dedication, leadership, and vision were further recognized when she was promoted to Director of Pickleball in October 2023.

In this role, Leia continues to expand the Pickleball programs at Bousquet Sport, fostering an environment where players can learn, compete, and thrive. From recreational play to organized leagues, tournaments, and junior programs, Leia's efforts ensure that every member of the community has an opportunity to be part of this exciting and inclusive sport.

Her work not only enhances the experience for individual players but also strengthens the connections that make Pickleball at Bousquet Sport a hub for networking, friendships, and fun. Under Leia’s leadership, the Pickleball community continues to grow, welcoming new players and offering opportunities for all to share in the joy of the game.

NGWSD History

NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies, and activities that honor the achievements and encourage the participation of girls and women in sports.

NGWSD began in 1987 as a day to remember Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements and her work to assure equality for women's sports. Hyman died of Marfan's Syndrome in 1986 while competing in a volleyball tournament in Japan. Since that time, NGWSD has evolved into a day to acknowledge the past and recognize current sports achievements, the positive influence of sports participation, and the continuing struggle for equality and access for women in sports.

NGWSD is jointly organized by the National Girls and Women in Sport Coalition. The Coalition combines the experience and resources of four premiere girls- and women-serving organizations in the United States: Girls Incorporated, the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport, National Women's Law Center, and the Women's Sports Foundation.

Collectively, these organizations have been in existence for over 432 years and have a membership reach of 5.5 million girls and women.
