MCLA hosts 30th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics department hosted their 30th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Saturday. The popular event drew a large crowd as 51 girls and women participated. The event was run by members of the department and also the Trailblazer student athletes.
The girls session had 25 participants that featured clinics in Volleyball, Soccer, and Lacrosse. The women's session had 26 participants and focused on Pickleball.
Once the clinic sessions were over, the participants were special guests at the MCLA Basketball games. Following the conclusion of that event, the girls were treated to an autograph session with the Trailblazers.
February 6, 2019 marks the 33rd annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports. Throughout the country, many athletics departments host their own celebrations of the historic event. This year's tagline is "Lead Her Forward."

The MCLA celebration marked the 30th consecutive year of hosting an event for the local youth and women. Spearheaded by Associate Director of Athletics, Dot Houston, the event has become an annual staple of the Trailblazers athletic department.
