MASCAC Forms Groundbreaking Partnership with ZAMA Health as the Official Student-Athlete Wellness Partner

WESTFIELD, Mass.— The MASCAC is pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership with ZAMA, a mental health app for student-athletes, coaches and staff at the collegiate level. This partnership is the first of its kind with ZAMA in Division III and the NCAA to include an entire conference.

Designed specifically for college athletes, ZAMA Health offers self-guided modules which aim to maximize performance goals and improve mental health. ZAMA Health also offers members the opportunity to anonymously join communities within the platform. Here, users can connect with others who have lived through similar experiences as what they might be going through and receive support and insights to help with their own journey.

"I am thrilled to be a leader in this space, launching this one of a kind relationship with ZAMA," MASCAC Commissioner Angela Baumann said. "Our institutions unanimously supported entering into this partnership to support our student-athletes, coaches and administrators. This is a modern way for us to support the mental health of our MASCAC Membership. By aligning with ZAMA for our institutions, we are showing the importance of mental health and providing another support tool for our student-athletes, coaches and staff so they can thrive on the fields, courts, classrooms and their lives."

In addition to the resources available to student-athletes through ZAMA, the platform will also offer courses to coaches and staff which will help them better identify and refer their athletes who might be struggling with their mental health to the proper outlets and therapists.

"Becoming the official student-athlete wellness platform of the MASCAC represents a culmination of our efforts at ZAMA Health, as we now have an opportunity to assist some of the very colleges that inspired our creation," ZAMA Co-Founder Brendan Sullivan said. "As a Massachusetts native, I grew up competing across the state at several of the MASCAC member schools. Amongst her other notable accolades, my great aunt, Dr. Tillie Fantasia, notably initiated women's varsity sports in field hockey, basketball, softball, gymnastics, and volleyball at Westfield State University. Thus, working with the MASCAC is deeply personal for me, as it allows ZAMA to contribute to the athletic departments, coaches, sports medicine staff, and administrators who have supported me over the years."

Co-Founded by Sullivan, ZAMA was developed based on the personal experiences of a college athlete as Sullivan, prior to creating ZAMA, was a captain of the track team at Yale University where he recognized many of the missing resources available to fellow teammates that might be needing additional mental health support. Earlier this year ZAMA was acquired by Volt Athletics, a leader in innovative, AI-powered performance training. This strategic union allows ZAMA to integrate their mental wellness expertise with Volt's cutting-edge physical training solutions, creating a comprehensive approach to athlete wellbeing. Together, Volt and ZAMA share a vision of building the world's foremost athlete development platform, delivering unparalleled physical and mental wellness solutions to nearly 2 million athletes worldwide.
