Wyand, Parillo lead MCLA past Daniel Webster 6-4

North Adams, MA- Behind six solid innings from Brenden Wyand (Pittsfield, MA) and a perfect 4-4 day at the plate from Joe Parillo (West Springfield, MA), the MCLA baseball team defeated visiting Daniel Webster College 6-4 this afternoon at the Zavattaro Athletic Complex.  With the win, MCLA improves to 8-16 while Daniel Webster falls to 13-12.

MCLA would open the scoring in the bottom of the first as Paul Procopio (Pittsfield, MA) and Parillo lined back to back RBI doubles.  The visiting Eagles would put three on the board in the 2nd on a bases clearing double by Tyler Calkin giving DWC a 3-2 edge.

MCLA would knot it up in the third on an Eddie George (Falls Church, VA) sacrifice fly.  The score would remain tied until the Trailblazers scored on a pair in the fifth.  George added an RBI single, and then scored on an ensuing groundout from Procopio. 

Wyand would make it stand up as he went the first six innings giving up just the three runs while allowing five hits and striking out three.  He was relieved by Josh Gould (Adams, MA) who would throw two innings, allowing a run while fanning four.  Senior Andrew Kelly (Dalton, MA) would close out the ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Parillo drove in two along with a pair of doubles, while Procopio and John Ripepi (Amsterdam, NY) finished with a pair of hits.  Ripepi stole three bags, while George chipped in with a pair.

MCLA outhit DWC 11-7 on the afternoon.

DWC will play Southern Vermont this weekend, while MCLA travels to Bridgewater State on Saturday.
