MCLA falls in doubleheader to UMass Boston in Florida finale

Auburndale, MA- The MCLA baseball concluded a tough Florida trip by falling to UMass Boston by scores of 5-0 and 16-7.  With the pair of losses, MCLA is now 1-5 heading into their northern opener on Tuesday.

In game one, MCLA could only muster four hits in the shutout.  UMass Boston would do all their damage in the first three innings tallying two runs in the first and three in the third.  MCLA starter James Greeley would settle in after the rough start and complete the game.

In game two, MCLA could not mount enough offense to keep up with the Beacons as the strong winds in Auburndale wreaked havoc on the pitchers on both sides.  The Beacons connected for four home runs in the rout of the Trailblazers.

MCLA starter Brenden Wyand (Pittsfield, MA) suffered the loss.

MCLA captain Ken Recore hit his first homer of the season in the loss.

MCLA returns to the diamond when they travel to Southern Vermont on Tuesday.
