MCLA Swept away by visiting Lasell 13-7 and 9-0

North Adams, MA- Visiting Lasell University took a pair of games in dominating fashion as the Lasers took game one 13-7 before completing the sweep of the Trailblazers with a 9-0 shutout in game two.  With the losses, MCLA is now 6-7 overall.  Lasell improves to 4-10 on the season.

In the opener, Lasell took command in the middle innings.  With the score tied at 1 apiece, the Lasers tallied two in the third and put the game out of reach with a seven run fourth inning.  The big blow was a three run home run from Billy Uberti to give Lasell a 10-1 lead.

MCLA scored five times in the seventh to complete the scoring, but the end result was never in doubt.  Lasell had fifteen hits in the contest, while MCLA had eleven.   DJ Clark suffered the loss for MCLA.

The nightcap didn't start off well for MCLA either.  They quickly found themselves down 3-0 after a half inning.  MCLA committed a costly error in the frame while a bad hop single contributed to the outburst.

Lasell added two more in the second off MCLA starter Joe Vaverka to build a 5-0 lead.  MCLA had a chance to cut into the lead in the third as they loaded the bases with nobody out.  The Trailblazers, however, could not push a run across as they recorded three straight punchouts.

Vaverka absorbed the loss in game two going just 3 2/3 innings and six runs, only two of which were earned.  Lasell outhit MCLA 9-3 in game two.

MCLA was doomed by seven free passes in the nightcap.

The Trailblazers are back in action tomorrow as they are scheduled to travel to Emerson College in a twinbill starting at 12:30.
