Trailblazers trounced at Elms 9-1

Holyoke, MA- Elms College right hander Curtis LeBeau tossed a complete game two hitter as the Blazers easily disposed of MCLA 9-1 this afternoon at McKenzie Field.  The Trailblazers fall to 8-8 overall, while Elms improves to 6-11.

DJ Clark took the loss for MCLA.

Elms jumped out early as they belted back to back doubles to begin the game.  Anthony Pagano tallied an RBI single to give Elms a 2-0 lead after one.  The Blazers would tack on a single run in the second before crossing the plate twice more in the third, ending the afternoon for Clark.

LeBeau, meanwhile, was in complete control.  He breezed through the first six innings, allowing only a walk.  Elms would pad the lead with three more runs in the seventh off MCLA reliever Chase Preite to take a 9-0 advantage.  The only drama left was if LeBeau could complete the no hitter.

MCLA's Rory Slattery led off the eighth inning with a deep triple to right center field ending the no hit bid.  LeBeau would buckle down though, stranding him at third.

The Trailblazers finally crossed home plate in the ninth when Ryan Shewchuk scored on pinch hitter Peter Dassatti's single.

Elms outhit MCLA 12-2 on the afternoon.  Nico Iavicoli led the way with a perfect 4-4 performance at the plate, including three doubles.  Pagano finished with a pair of hits as well.

MCLA will open MASCAC play on Saturday when they host Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 1pm.
