MCLA drops road tilt at Union 14-8

Schenectady, NY- The MCLA Trailblazers dropped a non league road game at Union (NY) 14-8 this afternoon in Schenectady.  MCLA drops a game below .500 at 9-10 on the season.

Cody Weaver led the ten hit MCLA attack with three hits including a homer and a double.

MCLA jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Weaver's second inning homer.  It was his first of the season.

Union responded with a big inning in the top of the third.  The Dutchmen parlayed three hit batters, two walks, and a pair of MCLA errors into an eight run inning giving Union an 8-1 lead after three.  They chased Trailblazer starter Joe Vaverka in the frame as he lasted just 2+ innings.

MCLA answered right back with three runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 8-4.  Following an RBI hit from Weaver, fellow freshman Chris Koch doubled home a pair of runs.

MCLA couldn't keep Union off the board however as they tallied twice in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth to pull away.

Vaverka absorbed the loss for MCLA.  Aside from Weaver's solid day, Ross Miner chipped in with a pair of hits as did Rory Slattery.

MCLA will return to the diamond on Friday when they return to MASCAC play by traveling to Fitchburg State for a doubleheader at 2pm.
