Trailblazers can't put up win verse cross town foe Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Host Williams came back from an early deficit to defeat MCLA, 8-3, at Williams' Bobby Coombs Field in non-conference baseball action. After MCLA took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Williams tied the game in the third and took a 4-1 lead with three runs in the fifth. MCLA pulled within one run, scoring twice in the seventh, but Williams added to their lead in the seventh and eighth to win, 8-3. With the win, Williams moved to 9-8 on the season, while MCLA fell to 2-11.
Freshman Arnie Capute was credited with the win for Williams, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits in 6+ innings of work. Capute walked three and struck out two. Reliever Cody Weaver took the loss for MCLA.
Catcher Phil McGovern led Williams offensively, going 3-4 with four RBI. Taylor Mondshein added two hits and scored three runs, and KC Murphy had two RBI. For MCLA, Chase Preite went 2-5 with an RBI. Rory Slattery added a hit and a run.
Williams next plays on Friday, April 5 in a conference home game against Wesleyan (Conn.). MCLA will be back in action on Saturday, April 6 in a conference doubleheader at Worcester State.
