MCLA Nine fall to Skidmore in Non Conference action 11-5

Saratoga Springs, NY- The MCLA baseball team dropped an 11-5 decision this afternoon to host Skidmore College.  The loss was the Trailblazers ninth straight and drops them to 2-19 on the season.  The Thoroughbreds improve to 8-15 with the win.

MCLA got off to a fast start as Mike Sullivan took the second pitch of the game over the fence in left for his first round tripper of the season.  The Trailblazers would add two more runs in the second as Slayter Aubin had an RBI single and Sullivan added another RBI on a groundout.

Skidmore would rally off MCLA starter Jared Gersch though, pushing two runs across in the second.  They would ultimately take control with a four run outburst in the fourth to grab a 6-3 lead.  They parlayed three doubles, a single, and a pair of walks into the big inning.

MCLA would get one back in the fifth as Chase Preite doubled and scored on a groundout from Tyler Benoit cutting the margin to 6-4 after five innings.  Skidmore would tack on three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh off the Trailblazer bullpen to take control and coast to the victory.

Skidmore, who used six pitchers in the game, outhit MCLA 12-7.  Gersch suffered the loss for MCLA after tossing five innings.  He allowed five hits, but was hurt by four walks.  He struck out a pair.

MCLA will travel to Framingham on Saturday in a MASCAC matchup.  First pitch is at 1:00pm.
