Baseball ends season with win over Elms College 4-2

North Adams, MA- The MCLA baseball team recieved a solid pitching performance from Tyler Benoit as the Trailblazers defeated Elms College 4-2 this afternoon at the Zavattaro Athletics Complex.  With the win, MCLA ends its season at 5-26 while Elms drops to 19-17 overall as they head into their conference tournament.

Benoit was the story for MCLA.  The sophomore right hander went eight innings and scattered 6 hits and both runs.  He struck out six Blazers and walked just one as he earned his first win of the year.  Robert Jutras tossed a perfect ninth to record the save.

Elms started fast as Daniel McCormack led off the game with a triple and came around to score on a wild pitch.  They would hold the lead for three innings as Geoffrey Frost kept MCLA at bay.

In the fourth inning though, MCLA would mount a rally.  Seniors Joe Duncan and Ross Miner, who were playing in their final collegiate contest, would lead off the inning with consecutive walks off Bryan Leonard.  Leonard would then walk Chase Preite to load the bases with nobody out.

Cody Weaver would greet Elms reliever Curtis LeBeau with a two run single into left field to give MCLA the lead.  Sean Coyle's RBI single with two outs would provide the hosts with a 3-1 lead.  Elms would get one back in the fifth as Brian Langdon came around to score after a leadoff double making it 3-2 after five.

MCLA would collect an insurance tally in the sixth on Rory Slattery's RBI single making it 4-2.

Elms would never seriously threaten over the final three frames.

Leonard absorbed the loss for Elms, who used seven pitchers in the contest.  Offensively, Brady Forrest had a pair of hits.
