MCLA drops opening DH to SUNY Poly 10-8, 10-7

Winter Haven, FL- The MCLA Trailblazers dropped a doubleheader with SUNY Poly as they fell in the season opener 10-8 before falling 10-7 in the nightcap.  MCLA is now 0-2 while the Wildcats finish their trip at 4-6.

The Wildcats jumped out to sizable leads in both games before MCLA came storming back.  The Wildcats led the opener 10-1 before MCLA scored seven times in the sixth to pull within a pair at 10-8.  Rory Slattery had the key hit with a three run double for the Trailblazers. 

Joe Redmond came on for SUNY Poly to halt the rally and earn the save.

In game two, the Wildcats once again jumped out in front leading from the start.  MCLA mounted another rally when Tyler Benoit homered and Slattery drove in another pulling the Trailblazers to within 10-7, however Redmond once again came on to work a 1-2-3 seventh to preserve the win for SUNY.

Mike Sullivan had a great day at the plate collecting six hits.  Slattery and Benoit each drove in four runs on the afternoon, while Ryan Shook added three hits in the nightcap.  

Robert Jutras absorbed the loss in game one, while Liam Nolan was tabbed with the loss in game two.

MCLA will be back in action on Sunday when they battle Lesley in a doubleheader at 3:30pm.
