Nolan's big day leads MCLA past Becker in Game one of doubleheader

Auburndale, FL- Liam Nolan went 3-4 with 7 runs batted in and the MCLA offense scored 11 runs with two outs as they cruised past Becker College 14-5 in the opening game of the doubleheader.  The Trailblazer offense pounded out 17 hits in the victory as they moved to 2-2 on the season.  Becker falls to 3-5.

Nolan singled in a pair of runs in the first inning, tripled to right center in the second scoring two more, before belting his first career HR, a three run shot in the third.

The Trailblazers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on Nolan's hit in the top of the first.  Becker answered with a two out run of their own making it 2-1 after one.  In the second, MCLA sent 11 batters to the plate and scored 7 times.  The Trailblazers had the first two hitters of the inning retired before nine straight batters reached.

Ryan Shook had a two run double and Nolan tripled to highlight the frame.  Becker would get another run on a solo homer from Randall Minogue, but MCLA put up four more runs in the third thanks to Nolan's blast for plenty of breathing room.

Trailblazer freshman Brendan Kelly earned the win tossing the first four frames.  He allowed three hits and two earned runs.  He struck out five batters.

Aside from Nolan's big day, Nick DiSanti added three hits.  Shook, Nate Alibozek, Brett LaBonte, and Nate Gutmann all had two hits on the afternoon.

Becker was paced by Minogue's strong day as he ended 2-2 and reached base all four times.  Tanyon Ventres was tagged with the loss for Becker.
