MCLA swept in final two Florida games

Auburndale, FL- The MCLA Baseball team dropped their final two games of their Florida swing as they were swept in a doubleheader by Keuka College. The Trailblazers fell 12-11 in extra innings in game one before losing 10-5 in the nightcap. The Trailblazers return home with a 5-9 record and will next take on RPI Wednesday afternoon in Troy, NY.

Game One- Keuka 12- MCLA 11 (10 innings)

Austin Rachiele and Christian Seariac both tripled in the bottom of the 1st to give MCLA an early 2-0 lead. Keuka's Tyler Broderick's double with two on tied the game in the top of the 2nd and a wild pitch would see Broderick score to give the Wolves a 3-2 lead.

The 3rd inning saw a two-run shot by Keuka's Brooks Vertoske answered with four base hits and a walk by the middle of the Trailblazer order to tie game at five.

A one out triple by leadoff hitter Anthony Brown would help fuel a four run 4th and give the Wolves a 9-5 advantage. But MCLA continued to scrap in the bottom half taking advantage of a leadoff error and hits by Jeff Bink, Seariac and Logan Rumbolt which would result in 3 more runs cutting the deficit to one.

MCLA would tie the contest in the 5th and take a two run lead in the 6th courtesy of a two run single off the bat of Dillon Maxon. Keuka would tie the game however scoring two in the top of the 7th to send the game to extra innings.

The Trailblazers held off the Wolves twice as they would get runners in scoring position in both the 8th and 9th. However a leadoff walk by Keuka's Anthony Brown who would ultimately score on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th put the Wolves ahead for good as MCLA was unable to answer.

Seariac, Maxon and Rumbolt all had three hits for the Trailblazers. Max Gabrielly took the loss for MCLA.

Game Two- Keuka 10- MCLA 5

Game two would see Keuka would jump out to a 5-0 lead with the help of a Brooks Vertoske's two-run triple in the bottom of the 1st a Wolves three run 3rd.  

A Dan Buchanan double and Dillon Maxon triple in the top of the 4th would cut the deficit to three for MCLA. Though the Wolves would add one in the bottom of the 5th the Trailblazers would again would come back with two more in the top of the 6th cutting the margin to two making the score 6-4 Keuka.

In the bottom of the 6th however the Wolves would score four runs stealing two bases and taking advantage of two Trailblazer errors to extend their lead to 10-4.

MCLA would add one in the top of the 7th but were unable to sustain their two out rally attempt making the final score 10-5.

Though Dillon Maxon would take the loss for the Trailblazers he also had a three hits including a double and a triple. Dan Buchanan also had two extra base hits in the game.
