Baseball falls in non league tilt to Anna Maria 10-1

Northborough, MA- Anna Maria's Colin Pipkin tossed a complete game and the Amcat offense offered plenty of support as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 10-1 this afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.  The Amcats improve to 15-22 on the season while the Trailblazers fall to 9-22 overall.

The game was scoreless through three innings, but the Amcats opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Jarrod Marifiote belted a two run single for a 2-0 lead and when Adam Twitchell followed with a single, it was quickly 3-0.

MCLA got a run back in the sixth off Pipkin when Jake Ferrara singled home Austin Rachiele to slice the deficit to 3-1.  Anna Maria had an answer though, they scored five times in the seventh and then tacked on two more in the eighth to pull away.

Jake Crevier's three run double was the key blow in the seventh inning and from there, Pipkin did the rest.

He allowed just six hits and struck out 8 MCLA batters as he improved to 2-5 on the season.

Crevier ended 3-5 with four RBI's and a pair of runs scored in the win.  Costa Drosidis added three hits and drove in a pair of runs.

For MCLA, James Besaw recorded his first collegiate hit, but no Trailblazers had more than one.  The Trailblazers used eight pitchers in the game as Tyler Wade (0-2) was saddled with the loss.

MCLA is off until Friday when they travel to Salem State on Friday beginning a three game series with the Vikings.
