Baseball earns season opening win over Yeshiva 10-4

West Harrison, New York-- MCLA's Nathan Kumm tossed three scoreless innings and Randy Adams collected a pair of hits and RBI's to lead the Trailblazers to a season opening 10-4 win over Yeshiva University.  The Trailblazers open the season at 1-0 while the Maccabees are 0-1.

After one inning, the Macs led 1-0 before the MCLA offense started to heat up.  The Trailblazers scored a pair of runs in the second inning as Jayco Pena and Robinson Guerrero-Baez posted RBI's.  After Yeshiva tied things up at 2-2 in the bottom half, MCLA took the lead for keeps in the third.

Ty Mazzeo singled to right center field driving in a pair of runs and MCLA led 4-2.  Kumm entered the game in the bottom of the third and immediately kept the Yeshiva offense in check.  With Kumm keeping their bats silent, MCLA added two more runs in the fourth and then put up three in the fifth to take charge.  Tristen Ciarlo had a two run single to spark the offense.

MCLA added their final run in the seventh inning while Yeshiva added solo tallies in the 7th and 8th innings to round out the scoring.

Kumm relieved MCLA starter Bryan Rosario.  Kumm earned his first collegiate win (1-0) by tossing three innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four.  Rosario earned the opening day start and went two innings.  Aidan Brett saw his first action while James Sneyd closed the door on the win by strking out the side in the ninth.

Each team mustered seven hits as Ciarlo was the only Trailblazer with two hits on the day.  MCLA was the beneficiary of 15 walks and they stole eight bases in the win.

The Trailblazers will be back in action next weekend when they challenge the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
