Baseball snaps skid with 12-6 win over Rivier

Nashua, NH— MCLA's Austin Rachiele was a perfect 4-4 with four runs scored in leading the Baseball team past Rivier 12-6 tonight in non league action.  The Trailblazers snapped a five game losing streak in the process.  They are now 9-13 on the season.  The Raiders fall to 1-20.

The MCLA offense started fast as they scored five times in the first inning.  Austin Rachiele reached on an infield single and Robinson Guerrero-Baez walked to start things off.  First baseman Randy Adams ripped a two run double to center field to score both runners and MCLA led 2-0.  Adams would eventually come around on a Rivier miscue to increase the lead to 3-0.  First year catcher Matthew Belfance capped the inning with a two run double to right field and MCLA led 5-0.

The Raiders would get an unearned run back in the second inning and tack on another in the third to get within 5-2.

In the fourth, the Trailblazers loaded the bases after Tristan Ciarlo doubled, Rachiele walked, and Guerrero-Baez was hit by a pitch.  Adams was up next and delivered a sacrifice fly scoring Ciarlo.  MCLA added another unearned run and they now led 7-2.

Rivier scratched a run across in the fifth to pull within 7-3 but MCLA answered with four runs in the sixth to put the game away.  Two runs came home on a Raider error and then consecutive singles from Jayco Pena and Belfance increased the lead to 11-3.

MCLA would tack on a run in th seventh while the Raiders added three runs in the ninth.

Rachiele was outstanding at the plate.  He paced a 12 hit attack.  Belfance, Adams, and Pena each had two hits apiece while Adams drove in four runs.

William Walsh earned the win for MCLA.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Thursday when they head to Framingham State.
