Baseball Wraps Spring Break by Dropping Two to Wisconsin-Stout

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The MCLA Baseball team wrapped up their spring break road trip with a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Stout at the RussMatt Tournament today. The Trailblazers dropped both ends of the doubleheader, falling in game #1 by a score of 12-1, and in game #2 by a score of 9-1.

HOW IT Happened

  • Game #1
    • Wisconsin-Stout took the lead in the second inning and never gave it back. They put up at least one run in all of their final five trips to the plate, including multiple runs in three of their final five frames.
    • The Trailblazers did scrape one run across the plate in the top of the sixth inning when Jayco Pena scored Justin Hernandez with a one-out RBI single.
    • Treysen Witt pitched the first five innings for the Blue Devils, holding the Trailblazers to two hits while striking out four. His record is now 1-0. Nate Morse took the loss, dropping his record to 0-1.
  • Game #2
    • The day didn't get much easier for MCLA in game #2, where Wisconsin-Stout's Dak Doyle threw six shutout innings of four-hit ball, striking out five and advancing his record to 1-0. Joshua Bissaillon was handed the loss, dropping his record to 1-2 despite striking out eight in five innings.
    • The Blue Devils scored a pair of runs in both the first and second innings, then added an insurance run in the fifth before capping the day with four runs in the sixth.
    • The Trailblazers scored their lone run in game #2 when Joe Sardo brought George Feliz home with a bases-loaded RBI ground out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

UP NEXT:

MCLA will be back in action on March 20th, when they travel to Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute for a non-conference matchup with the Engineers at Robison Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
