NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Baseball team wrapped up their three-game series with Bridgewater State this afternoon when they welcomed the Bears to the Zavattaro Athletics Complex. Bridgewater completed their sweep of the three-game series by dominating both sides of the ball, scoring 40 runs on 42 hits, and shutting out the Trailblazers on only three hits.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Game #1
    • Bridgewater State's knocked a pair of two-run home runs, driving in four runs while scoring five. Ryan Flaherty added another home run in the top of the seventh inning to give the final edge to the Bears.
    • MCLA's Matthew Castillo and George Feliz picked up the only hits for the Trailblazers, knocking singles in the bottom of the seventh to break up Trey Yesu's no-hitter after six and a third innings.
    • Yesu picked up the win to improve to 4-2 with a complete game, seven-strikeout effort. MCLA's Joshua Bissaillon took the loss, falling to 1-6.
  • Game #2
    • Flaherty and Selander traded roles in the second game. Flaherty went yard twice in a 3-5 effort to drive in four runs and score three more. Selander also drove in four runs with an RBI single in the first inning and a three-run home run in the third.
    • The Trailblazers didn't wait as long to collect their first hit in the nightcap. Bobby Lane hit a two-out double in the third inning for what would end up being the team's only hit.
    • Shane Handrahan pitched six innings, striking out five while allowing one hit, to up his record to 3-1. Nate Morse took the loss for MCLA, dropping his record to 1-6.

UP NEXT:

On Sunday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Framingham State to complete their suspended MASCAC matchup with the Rams at Joe Wolfe Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
