Second half propels Endicott past MCLA Men's Basketball

Hartford, CT- The Endicott Gulls used an explosive second half to pull away from the MCLA Trailblazers 96-67 in the consolation round of the Trinity (CT) Holiday tournament.  MCLA drops to 2-8 on the season while the Gulls improve to 6-3.

Endicott outscored MCLA 51-33 in the second half to earn the win. 

Endicott had a balanced offensive attack as six players scored nine or more points. Leading the way for the Gulls was sophomore guard Kamahl Walker with 21 points and five assists. The Worcester, Mass., native was lethal from beyond-the-arc, connecting on all four of his three-point attempts. Senior forward Andre Makris poured in 17 points to go along with a game-high three steals, while sophomore guard Max Motroni was the other Gull in double figures with 13 points thanks to a perfect 4-of-4 shooting performance from the field.

Sophomore forward Adam Conquest was the lone member of the Trailblazers as he netted a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds on 10-of-15 shooting. Sophomore center Dakari Hannah-Wornum played well off the bench for MCLA scoring eight points, grabbing seven boards and blocking a pair of shots. In 20 minutes of action, senior guard Anthony Barbosa contributed three points, five assists and two steals.

Endicott led 45-34 at halftime but exploded in the second half to pull away.  MCLA was within nine points after a Todd Hunt layup (45-36), however Endicott answered with five straight points to begin pulling away.  MCLA would never get within ten points as the lead grew to as many as 31 points in the closing half.

MCLA will challenge Pine Manor on Sunday in Boston.
