WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Strong performances from Kyle Scadlock and Matt Karpowicz helped the Williams Ephs (3-0) Men's Basketball team defeat the MCLA Trailblazers (0-4) by a final score of 91-61.

In the early going, it looked as if MCLA would put up a good fight. Sophomore guard Colin Parrott scored 8 of the Trail Blazers' first 10 points as MCLA took a 10-9 lead with 14:58 left in the half. Williams got a lot of open three-point looks early, but failed to convert, missing their first six attempts. It would only be a matter of time before the Ephs started connecting from deep. With the outside shots not falling, the Ephs looked inside to find more consistent scoring. The turning point in the half was an impressive put-back dunk by freshman Matt Karpowicz to put the Ephs up 20-10 with 11:20 to go. The jam was an exclamation point in the midst of a 17-0 run.
In the ensuing minutes, Williams also seemed to find their touch from three-point range. Junior Mike Greenman, sophomore James Heskett, and senior Daniel Aronowitz all drilled three pointers, helping Williams open up a 51-29 lead at the half.

While the Ephs struggled from three-point range (3-12), they did find plenty of easy looks inside. As a result, Williams shot an excellent 20-33 (60.6%) from the field in the opening half. The Ephs also took advantage of their size and athleticism, blocking 7 shots and scoring 11 points off turnovers.

Hot shooting allowed the Ephs to extend their lead to as much as 28 at 60-29 with 17:17 left to play. MCLA continued to fight hard and went on 20-7 run to cut their deficit to 16 with 10:27 left. From that point on, Williams took over and quickly extended their lead to over 20 points.

Six Ephs scored double-digit points. Scadlock finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Karpowicz had 10 points and 9 rebounds including three thunderous dunks.
Parrott and junior Joe Wiggins led the Trail Blazers with 15 points each.
Williams outrebounded MCLA 36-27 and shot a stellar 50.7% from the field (34 of 67).
