Men's Basketball suffers road loss to regionally ranked WPI

Worcester, MA- Jamani Spencer scored a game best 20 points and every WPI player broke into the score column as the regionally ranked Engineers breezed past the MCLA Men's Basketball team 105-68 this evening in non conference action.  With the win, WPI improves to 5-2 while the Trailblazers drop to 0-6 on the season.

WPI left little doubt in this one as they used a big first half to put the game out of reach.  Spencer scored all of his points in that opening half as he went 8 of 9 from the floor leading the Engineers to a whopping 58-34 halftime lead.  WPI shot 60% from the floor in the half including a solid 8 for 12 performance from beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Engineers were never threatened as both teams played many reserves in the contest.  WPI's Dave Zielinski added 14 points while Connor Willgress chipped in with 10 points in the win.  The Engineers ended the contest shooting 55% from the floor.

For MCLA, they were paced by Keiland Cross who scored a team best 19 points.  Joe Wiggins chipped in with 17 points for the Trailblazers.  MCLA shot 39% and was hampered by 17 turnovers compared to just 9 for the hosts.

The Trailblazers are back in action this Friday and Saturday when they host the Tri State Shootout.  MCLA will face RPI in the opener Friday night while the nightcap features Southern Vermont taking on Fisher College.
