Yearsley claims MASCAC rookie of the year honors

North Adams, MA- MCLA first year guard Noah Yearsley (Averill Park, NY) was tabbed as the 2018 MASCAC rookie of the year as announced by the conference offices this afternoon.  Yearsley becomes the second straight player to earn the honor joining teammate Keiland Cross who won the award in 2017.

Senior Shaquan Murray of Salem State is the 2017-18 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and headlines the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven coaches around the conference.  

Joining Murray on the 2017-18 All-Conference First Team is Joseph Carty, Rocky DeAndrade of Bridgewater State, Drew Healy of Salem State and Marcus Collins of Westfield State.
 
MCLA's Adam Conquest made the Second Team alongside Rayshon Ward of Bridgewater State, Manny Payton of Framingham State, Sean Bryan of Salem State and Shaun McCarthy of Worcester State.
 
Salem State head coach Chris Harvey was selected as the conference's coach of the year.
 
Yearsley was outstanding for the Trailblazers during his rookie season.  The first year guard led the team in scoring at 13.5 points per game and played in 25 of MCLA's 26 contests.  He notched double figures in 19 games this season, including each of his final six starts.
 
The final game of the season was also Yearsley's best.  He poured in a game high 31 points on 11-19 shooting including a torrid 8-11 performance from three point range in the Trailblazers season ending setback to eventual conference champion Bridgewater State.  In all, he topped the 20 point mark on three occasions during his first season in a Trailblazers uniform.
 
Yearsley earned six MASCAC rookie of the week awards during the entirety of the season.
 
The Trailblazers concluded their season at 10-16 overall, a significant leap forward from a two win season a year ago.
