Men’s Basketball falls to Worcester State, 74-54

North Adams, MA- MCLA was unable to keep pace with MASCAC rival Worcester State this afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center falling to the Lancers 74-54. With the win Worcester State remains atop the league standings improving to 13-5 (5-0 MASCAC), while the Trailblazers fall to 6-9 (2-3 MASCAC).

A Noah Yearsley layup with 4:26 remaining in the first half would bring to the Trailblazers to within two at 22-20 but Worcester State would head into the locker room on an 11-6 pushing the lead to 33-26.

The Lancers would continue to be the more assertive team opening the second half on a 13-2 run to stretch the lead out to 46-28. MCLA would not mount any serious threat for the remainder of the game as Worcester State cruised to the 74-54 win.

Lancer Aaron Nkrumah would score a game-high 20 points as wel as grab 8 rebounds. Erik Bjorn posted a double-double finishing with 15 point and 11 rebounds. Tayjaun McKenzie came off the bench and chipped in 11 points.

Yearsley would finish with 11 points to lead the Trailblazers while the frontcourt of Mamadou Diallo and Jayden Mills each scored 8 points.

Worcester State shot an impressive 52.4% from the field despite going just 3-13 from beyond the arc. MCLA shot just 31.4 from the field including a paltry 3-26 from beyond the 3-point line.

Both teams will next be in action on Wednesday at 5:30pm as Worcester State will host Framingham State and MCLA travels to Bridgewater State.
