Yearsley scores 31 but Men’s Basketball falls to Salem State 75-64

North Adams, MA-Salem State's Chris MacDonald connected on seven 3-pointers and led the Vikings with 25 points as the Vikings downed MCLA 75-64 this afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center. With the win Salem State improves to 7-17 (4-7 MASCAC) while the Trailblazers fall to 7-14 (3-7 MASCAC).

An Amon Moore 3-pointer at the 9-minute mark of the first half would give MCLA their largest lead of the day at 18-14. Salem State however would close out the half on a 17-6 run and headed into the locker room up 34-26.

Noah Yearsley would connect on a 3-pointer with 12:39 left in the second half to cut the Salem State lead to 51-46 but that would be as close as the Trailblazers would get the rest of the afternoon.

Three minutes later, the Vikings would reestablish their double-digit lead on a Connor Byrne dunk that put the visitors up 57-46. From there Salem State was able to keep MCLA at bay cruising to the 75-64 win.

In addition to MacDonald's 25-point performance, Salem State's Jarret Byrne registered a double-double with 10 points and twelve rebounds while Jayden Castillo chipped in 12 points.

Noah Yearsley led all scorers with 31 points which tied his career-high, while teammate Amon Moore finished with 11 points for the Trailblazers.

Salem State shot 43.1% from the field including 10-27 (37%) from beyond the arc. MCLA finished shooring 36.1% onthe day while going 9-31 (29%) from distance.

Salem State wraps up its regular season on Wednesday when it hosts Framingham State at 5pm. MCLA travels to Worcester State on Wednesday to take on the MASCAC regular season champs at 5:30pm.
