Men’s Basketball Extend Winning Streak, Topple Worcester State 82-60

WORCESTER, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Basketball team returned to conference play this evening when they traveled to Worcester State for a MASCAC matchup at the WSU Wellness Center. Quentin Gittens led the way with 25 points for the Trailblazers as the team defeated the MASCAC-leading Lancers by a score of 82 to 60.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • MCLA was almost exclusively in control of this game, only trailing for a total of 72 seconds, all in the first half. The Trailblazers were leading 39-32 when the teams went to the locker rooms at the half.
  • Quentin Gittens was red hot early, scoring 19 of his game-high 25 points in the first half. Gittens made nine of his eleven shots from the field in the first half (81.8%).
  • As well as the Trailblazers played in the first half, they found another gear in the second half, outscoring the hosts 43-28.
  • While Gittens was the story in the first half, it was Craig Williams' story in the second half. Williams scored 15 of his 17 points while only playing seven minutes after the break. Williams was seven of nine from the field (77.8%), including a perfect three for three from beyond the three-point line following the intermission.
  • The Lancers were led by 16 points apiece from Sam Dion and Ryan Rubenskas, while Rubenskas pulled down a game-high boards.
