Golf completes day one of Williams Invitational
Williamstown, MA -- It was a beautiful day for the first round of the Williams Invitational at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club. Williams hosted 16 other schools, and fielded a B squad and individuals in the event. Temperatures ranged in the 60's and it was very breezy throughout the round. A different scoring system will be used for this tournament. Normally, teams count the best four of five rounds each day. This weekend, teams count the best four scores per hole out of five to get the overall team total. With this format, Williams' A team holds the overnight lead after shooting 292. The Ephs' B team is tied for second place with Babson; they both posted a 298 total.
MCLA is in 16th place and was paced by Taylor Dunn, who carded an 82. Sean Cota followed with an 87.
Individually, Babson's Wesley Tryhane is leading after his two-over par 73. Williams junior Matt McCarron was one stroke behind him with 74. He shares second place with Hamilton junior Greg Scott and Bowdoin's Johnny Bohorquez.
Tee times will begin tomorrow at 8 AM, in reverse order based on standings from today's play.
